Cityfleet Acquires Merseyside Radio Meter Cabs Ltd

21st October 2008

CityFleet (UK), a member of Singapore based transport multinational ComfortDelGro Corporation, acquired a 100% of the Liverpool taxi company, Merseyside Radio Meter Cabs Ltd. The acquisition builds on previous taxi and private hire acquisitions in London, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Birmingham to increase its presence in the UK market and to help create a national high quality taxi service for corporate and private customers.

Known as Mersey Cabs, the company, founded in 1958, is the largest taxi company in Liverpool with 400 licensed, fully accessible, hackney taxis. With many taxis on a double shift pattern, and a fully automated booking and despatch system, the company offers unrivalled response times, reliability and customer service throughout the city.

Mersey Cabs is already a partner with CityFleet in the international Cabcharge taxi account service, and will now have access to far greater technical and financial resources to secure a bright future of continued growth.

Mr Lee, CEO UK Taxis, said, ‘this acquisition is an excellent fit with our other UK operations and I’m confident our investment will bring benefits to all parties including customers, drivers and staff. We are looking forward to working together to move the business forward.’

The acquisition by CityFleet is in line with the Group’s expansion strategy for the UK within all modes of passenger land transport including taxis, private hire cars, coaches and buses. Mersey Cabs will be added to the existing UK portfolio of Computer Cab taxis in London, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, Flightlink International, Onward Travel, Metroline Buses, Scottish CityLink Coaches, Armchair Passenger Transport and Westbus Coach Services Ltd.
